OBJECTIVE:
Develop a five minute mini-documentary that sheds light on a certain group or issue that would otherwise not have the opportunity for attention. The goal was to introduce the dance community's primary demographic and why the involvement of younger individuals is crucial to the sport staying alive.
EXECUTION:
Interview four subjects, go to a dance competition, and film b-roll in the studio to have well-rounded footage. Various perspectives were provided by interviewing two UCWDC professionals and two college students.
OBJECTIVE:
Commemorate the Warriors' championship season with a cinematic recap of the state meet.
EXECUTION:
Collect scene setting shots of the environment, shoot warmups, and analyze the course layout in order to be in specific spots during the race. Additionally, be at the finish line in order to film the top runners finishing. The trophy presentation and post-race interview was icing on the cake.
OBJECTIVE:
Put the spotlight on the team's best hurdler and most eccentric personality with a mic'd up during practice and in a weight room session.
EXECUTION:
Olivia needs no direction in front of the camera. Simply record everything and stay on your toes. In the edit, mixing up the shots of her being a comedian and clips during practice/weights improves audience retention.
OBJECTIVE:
Showcase the new jersey combinations and offseason work that the team has been putting in for a hype video.
EXECUTION:
Film several practices, a weight room session, spring game, and hype shoot. Introduce the video with the head coach's voice over, continuously mixing wide and close up shots. Keep a gradual build up until the beat drops and the video becomes an electric montage designed to pump up the players and fans for an awesome season.
OBJECTIVE:
Promote the school's annual homecoming football game with a one minute video for social media.
EXECUTION:
Open with an intense speech from the coach and switch to the obvious song choice, Kanye West's "Homecoming;" then proceed fill the timeline with energetic game highlights and engaging fan shots to make coming to the game feel like a necessity.
OBJECTIVE:
Complete class project in a public setting where strangers can answer a question of our choice.
EXECUTION:
Begin with selecting a fun question and buying donuts to help persuade people to participate. Bethany took on the role of off-camera host and I was the camera operator. We evaluated the edit together to make sure it was an entertaining film.
